Suggestions for a Better Start Next Spring

1 - Release the tension in your rig. It's good to relax the rig.

2 - Take off as many sheets and halyards and sailing lines as you can, but don't forget the messenger lines! It will help you to get longer life out of your lines.

3 - Gently wash all of your sailing lines in fresh water to get rid of the salt and grime in the cover and the core. Use mild soap and dry in fresh air. Flake the line in nice long loops.

4 - Take care of your blocks, shives and tracks. Use good lubricant to make sure that they are all free turning. Make sure your cars are sliding free.

5 - Wash your furling drum with fresh water to get rid of residue in the bearing, then lube with dry lube or similar lubricant.

6 - Clean and lubricate spinnaker pole and all the fittings.

7 - Clean and lube all your snatch blocks and clutches.

8 - Check all your turnbuckles, clevis pins and cotter pins, very important to protect your standing rigging.

9 - Inspect your running rigging for damage to the core or cover. If damaged, be sure to replace before the spring season. Call us to discuss our recommendations for sailing lines that will best serve your needs.
